Weekly Report #8 Hospital Hustle

Living a healthy life is the greatest reward to oneself.

First of all, congratulations to Manchester City for winning their first Champions League trophy in the club's history 🏆, even though the game wasn't great, it didn't feel as exciting as... the World Cup.

I originally planned to do something fun this week, but after going to the hospital for a check-up, I found out that it was quite troublesome. I was diagnosed with "sudden deafness", so I have to go to the hospital for intravenous therapy every afternoon. Here, I would like to introduce the process of seeing a doctor.

Seeking Medical Treatment#

First, make an appointment at the outpatient department (corresponding to the department) and go to the hospital to collect the appointment slip. Give the nurse at the triage desk a scan of the barcode on the appointment slip and wait for your number to be called.

After the doctor finishes examining, they will give you a referral for a "hearing test". After completing the hearing test, go to the triage desk to get a re-examination number and see the doctor again. The doctor will diagnose based on the "hearing test" report, and the result is that I need to go to the emergency department for intravenous therapy.

The emergency department and the outpatient department are completely different institutions. I brought the diagnosis slip to the emergency department building, found a nurse sister in the lobby, explained the situation, and then queued to have my blood pressure and heart rate measured.

After the tests are done, it's time to wait for your number to be called, and the process is the same as the outpatient department. If you only need intravenous therapy, you don't need to make an appointment in advance, just go through the process at the emergency department. Of course, there is still a registration fee. Unlike the outpatient department, the registration fee and diagnostic fee at the emergency department are charged separately.

After the doctor finishes examining, they will prescribe the medications needed for intravenous therapy. After paying the fees, you can go to the pharmacy to collect the medications. After receiving the medications, go to the infusion room and give them to the nurse sister, then wait for the infusion. After the infusion is finished, blood pressure needs to be measured again. There is a machine for self-measurement.

This is my first complete experience of seeking medical treatment. With just a barcode on the appointment slip, I was able to go through the entire process. I think it's quite convenient, except for the waste of paper 🤣, because each process will give you some paper certificates.

Exercise#

Reached 50KM, but when I looked at the goal of 1000KM set at the beginning of the year, I realized that I won't have much free time in the days to come. The weather is getting hotter and hotter, and my heart rate is already uncontrollable.

About Love#

Recently, I have seen many things about getting married or breaking up, and some people have made themselves miserable just to pursue a girl. Wise people do not enter the realm of love. Here is a quote I saw on a certain website.

When you are young, you think that love is everything, that a girlfriend is everything. But as you grow older, you realize that it's not true. Your parents will leave you, let alone a girlfriend. Each person can only accompany you for a certain period of time, and then they have to get off the train. What each person can truly do is to get used to a life of solitude. You can enrich yourself, sharpen yourself, but never hope that someone else can help you escape this feeling of loneliness. In short, you have to have yourself. Those who have themselves are not lonely. What the original poster can do now is to ensure their own work and study, and leave the rest to time. Time is the cure for all pain.

Although everyone has different pursuits, there is no need to make yourself so miserable.
